New York City, New York.

Nestled in a valley in Chamfi village (Nainital) on the banks of Kalsa river, this beautiful property is a testament to Manish’s (the owner) passion. His attention to detail and vision towards creating a world class experience has resulted in this getaway that offers luxurious comforts wrapped in a rustic Himalayan setting. On a short trip to India from New York, I was glad that Soulitude by the Riverside was my first escape from Delhi.

Go there if you want to escape from the hustle-bustle of the city life and immerse yourself in some soulful time away, with either yourself or your near and dear ones. The stunning glass house by the river with huge glass windows (and roof) offering an unobstructed view of the surroundings, the tastefully decorated cottages (with some very unique features), the scenic treks, the conversations over the bonfire in the evening, a splash in the refreshing waterfalls adorning the Kalsa river, the warm and courteous hospitality, the delicious and eclectic meals are few of the things that are going to leave you mesmerized, yearning to come back again.

Getting there: A 15-20 min drive from Bhimtal leads to Chamfi village where one has to park the car close to an old British suspension bridge. After a quick 15 min trek along the river, accompanied by the courteous and helpful porters sent by the property, one arrives at the beautiful Soulitude by the Riverside.

The place: Soulitude by the Riverside has 7 cottages all done up to have their own unique look. While one cottage might have a suspended bed the other might have a small rock wall partitioning the seating area from the bed, luxurious bathrooms to traditional furniture adorn these rooms. The glass house by the river is a lovely place to spend time with friends, the fire pit right outside the glass house serves as an idyllic setting for some great story telling. There is open bar right next to the glass house where we discovered our own cocktail, fondly named “The Chamfi”.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful escape in the majestic Himalayas.
