The Gaula river flowing was an ideal setting for some solitude, tasty & simple food hit the spot and some armchair birding in the property and books to read made for a relaxing break.
The access to the property from the main road is a fairly steep climb down and will take you about 20 mins or so. Recommend that you wear a good pair of shoes when you reach the designated meeting point. Be sure to call the hotel ahead of your arrival so that someone is available to meet you and carry your luggage down. And try and pack light and in backpacks.
The rooms that we had booked were Poorna & Prafful as we wanted rooms that were in the same block. We found them to be spacious and clean. The hot water in the bathrooms took a long while though – a cold water bath is refreshing and is something you should be look forward to.
The meals were simple and well cooked with the breakfast being a real treat. The common room is a beautifully designed place that lets the natural light in and is a good place to lounge. I would recommend that you spend most of the time at the seating areas near the river and you may be able to spot a pair of Brown Dippers that are darting about in the stream.
You could also spot the Plumbeous Water Redstarts around. Walking around the property I spotted the Grey Treepie, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Black-headed Jay, Grey-hooded Warbler, Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher, Black-throated Tit, Grey Wagtail and the Scaly-breasted Munia in just a few hours.
One short trek that you should do when here is the one to Pari Tal – a wonderful waterfall pool about 15-20 mins upstream.
